They call us at the most inconvenient times, try to sell us the strangest things, and no matter what we do, we can’t seem to stop them. So I’ve decided to record and podcast all my telemarketing calls.
In today’s episode, I received a call from “The Windows Company.” And no matter how hard I try to explain to the telemarketer, my Commodore 64 does not have Windows and is a little slow at starting.
For those who haven’t figured it out, these calls are scams. It’s a ploy that tries to get you to install spyware on your PC, which malicious individuals can then use to make money by putting annoying advertisements on your computer, or in a worse case, they could get information to steal your identity. I recommend hanging up on them, or if you’re bold enough, talk to them and try to waste their time. Or see if you can get them to reveal information about who they are and where they’re calling from.
