Woman with an anxious expression

Developing a New Blog

by Brian on 3/4/2010

I have decided to start a new blog, and breath some new life into old ones.  The blogs I am planing to breath new life into are Grounded PilotClayshaker and this blog. The new blog will be called Catastrophic Thinking, and will focus on mental health.

I came up with the title Catastrophic Thinking through reading the book It’s Not My Fault by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. As soon as my eyes saw those two words I knew they were s a perfect blog title. Catastrophic Thinking is a term used in psychology to describe a distorted thought process. From It’s Not My Fault:

“People who practice catastrophic thinking look at a small problem and picture it escalating until they’re sure it will result in a disastrous outcome.  A missed payment will bring bankruptcy, a marital fight will end up in divorce; forgetting to take a pill will cause a hospitalization.  Catastrophic thinking can cause serious problems in your ability to make empowering, ownership-type choices.  It can paralyze you and keep you stuck in anxiety.”

I’m still putting together content program for the blog, but it will include book reviews, various articles about conditions, coping strategies, hopefully interviews, and more.
