National Novel Writing Month

by Brian on 11/6/2009

So I’ve decided to participate this year in National Novel Writing Month. So far I’ve written 5,308 words. I should at 10,000 words today to be able to make it to 50,000 by the end of the month, so hopefully tomorrow I can get in some more writing.

So far the experience has been a lot of fun. What makes NaNoWriMo fun is that you can also participate with a community of fellow writers who are also working hard to write their own novel. The tools they have on their site to measure your progress are also very beneficial.

A few tools I found useful are Scrivener and WriteRoom. Scrivener released a special trial version for NanoWriMo that will work for the whole month, as well as a 20% discount to all participants, and a 50% discount to all participants who complete NanoWriMo. WriteRoom is free this week as part of the MacHeist nanoBundle.

Now I should probably get back to writing. This blog post isn’t helping my count.
