Another invoicing option is Time59 (www.time59.com). It’s targeted at solo professionals and is a great solution if you don’t need (or want to pay for) the multi-user capability of Freshbooks. Bottom line: If you are solo and bill by the hour it is definitely worth a look. The first 30 days are free.

Yes, WORKetc seems to have a handful of more features than Freshbooks when it comes to CRM, helpdesk, proposals, etc. But may not be right for other people who are using other tools for that purpose (i.e. Basecamp, Highrise, etc.).

Does WORKetc have an API? Freshbooks has an API that will let me tie Freshbooks billing into my other apps.

Brian.

WORKetc offers the same feature set as Freshbooks but takes it further with more of a focus on helping freelancers (in particular designers) the tools to manage projects, outsource to other freelancers, customer help desk, CRM and sales automation/proposal automation. www.WORKetc.com

Was it only the design of the web interface that bothered you? How much time do you spend on building your own system?

The PDF and printed invoices are very nice... they even put a barcode on the side of the invoice to make it look professional.

Brian.
