Conservatives Exclude Canadian Public from Policy Convention

by Brian on 11/16/2008

Did anyone catch the news recently about the recent conservative policy convention? And did you catch the part about the media being banned from these policy meetings?

The part about the media being banned from the convention doesn’t really concern me, I’m more concerned about the part about the public not being invited, and the discussion not being shared or opened. The conservative government is not creating new and innovative ways to dialog and connect with Canadians.

The politician, or party, who wants to transform Canada will find someway to reach out to Canadians. He or she will dodge the mainstream media, and talk to Canadians directly. I predict that the next historically profound Canadian politician will astound Canadians with a $349 dollar video camera, a youtube account (is there a more Canadian social media site?… I once heard about a Montreal French based service), and the willingness to listen rather than just speak.
