I’ve just switched my VPS (virtual private server) host from Godaddy to Slicehost. I was frustrated with:
- Godaddy’s 1000 SMTP email limit
- The fact that the POP3 server would crash twice a week and require restarting
- How the entire server would just lock up randomly during the day
- Upgrading the OS require re-provisioning the VPS (erasing everything)
Slicehost offers:
- $10 off the price compared to Godaddy
- No email limits
- Larger selection of Linux distros
- The system administrators have a Campfire chatroom where they hangout
Will see how the VPS holds up when I move more sites and email traffic to it, but so far looks promising.
