Story2Oh! in Violation of Facebook Terms of Service

by Brian on 1/11/2008

Story2Oh! is an innovative online approach to story telling where the characters in the story have real, online Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr accounts.

While the idea may sound cool and interesting, some may even argue that it may be hard to follow. I was wondering, are all the characters in this story who have Facebook accounts actually in violation of the Facebook Terms of Service?

From the Facebook Terms of Service:

(a) Provide accurate, current and complete information about you as may be prompted by any registration forms on the Site (“Registration Data”)… and any other information you provide to Company, to keep it accurate, current and complete;

I’m not at all a legal expert, but I wanted to put this question out there.

I remember when Facebook started to take off there was a lot of media coverage about how it success came from the fact that it connected people in the social graph, real people. I wonder how Mark Zuckerberg would react to people creating fake profiles on his Facebook to tell stories. Somehow, I think it deviates from the goals of the service.

Also, I’m sure Facebook advertisers would love to know their money is being spent on fake profiles.
