In response to Grant Robertson post, “Why don’t we tip IT service people?” I think the reason I may not want to tip an IT service person is because of the salary they may be making, which will usually be substantially more than minimal wage. This is not necessarily true in all cases, and in those cases I would certain consider the idea, but in general, no.
However, I do know personally that I do like receiving thank you cards. Those little pieces of cardboard are good motivators and show you just how much you are appreciated when you face days where the majority of the people you are working for are calling you idiots. Probably the nicest thing a customer ever did for me was send me a t-shirt.
So why not send your IT person a thank you card or a small gift? You’ll probably get better service, or a faster response time.
