Apparently there is this new thing out there called, “podcasting.” So new, my spell checker doesn’t know what it is. It’s a new form of radio that you download from you computer and then listen to on your iPod–or computer if you don’t have one. The programming is distributed using RSS feeds like I mentioned in my previous post.
Tod Maffin comments that teens are listening to new media devices (MP3 players, podcasts, internet radio) more than they do traditional radio. Since more and more people are getting MP3 players, I can really see podcasts becoming popular. When they do, don’t say I didn’t tell you so! I remember Howard Stern commenting on The Late Show about how satelite radio was going to become the next biggest thing, but he could very well be wrong. I heard the service was expensive, and may not ever be available in Canada. Of course podcasting is cheaper, and can never be regulated by the CRTC.
I think we should start podcasting Plunge sermons.
