Well, I’m starting to use my gmail.com account finally. I’m starting to really like it. I know that I could have as many POP3, IMAP or whatever protocol I could possibly dream of to use for email since I run my own server(s), and I could have as much storage as all my hard drives could hold, but I like Gmail. I like it because it organizes and archives my email quite nicely. Also, it would have been nice to have in the past when I used email to correspond with people quite heavily; I believe that I still have almost every single email that I have sent or received, but they are all scattered on different hard drives in cryptic Outlook file formats.
I have a nice email setup. All of my work emails still go to my POP3 client, but I have my personal email forwarded to my Gmail account, and then my Gmail account forwards it to my POP3 client. (If you don’t have my personal email address, just ask me and I’ll give it to you; I won’t post it on here since I don’t want it to get spammed
It’s a special address!) So now, I will hopefully have a massive collection of email to search through when I’m old and grey, and wondering what life used to be like.
Hey, I’ll have blog entries too!
Oh ya, the other nice thing about Gmail is, the ads on it are all text ads based on the contents of your emails. I like that a lot better than Hotmail, because lately going to Hotmail is like going to a singles dating porn site (I’ve been thinking of changing my profile settings to say that I’m a seven year-old boy to see if that would affect the ads it shows–I wouldn’t mind ads from Nintendo!).
Oh, if you want to sign up for a Gmail account, you’ll need somebody who has invites to invite you to sign up since they are still testing it. I happen to have four invites left, so if you’re nice!
