Sudbury

Someone mentioned to me that I haven’t really been blogging much about my trip to Sudbury. I’ve been wanting to, but I find it hard to blog about it because a lot of it is kind of stuff between myself and other people which I don’t really want to post on a blog, but you can ask me about it in person sometime and I’ll be glad to tell you.

There was one highlight of my trip, which I can blog about. The second night in my hotel I got a bit lonely, and loneliness in a hotel room with x-rated cable TV is not a good combination–ya, I’ll be dead honest, that can be my downfall–so I decided to go out and grab a bite to eat. I went to the Pita Pit in downtown Sudbury. As I left the Pita Pit carrying my pita, I figured it might not be a bad idea to sit outside and eat my food. So I sat down on a bench by a government building across the street from the bus station and ate my pita, and people watched.

I’m sure I saw Jesus somewhere.

On this street, I’m sure there were a handful of people who had no clue that they are alive, but I’ll bet anything that there were a lot of people who knew how to love, and even much better than I do. That night was one thing that I will remember from my trip.

So what was the comment about x-rated cable TV about? That comment was about me sinning while I was in a hotel room in Sudbury. And it’s the reason why I think that living by yourself, alone, is unhealthy. At least for me, I know it’s totally unhealthy for that reason. I sinned, and I confess that fact.

I’m not one of those Christians who out of pride thinks the sex industry should be banned because it’s an evil enterprise, everyone in it is going to hell because they’re all evil people, and that the whole thing is ungodly. I think it should be gotten rid of because I can, and have fallen into that temptation numerous times growing up, and even now. I know very well that God has much better things than what temptation pretends to give me. And yet, I stumble.

“When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was turned into the drought of summer. I acknowledge my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,’ and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.” –Psalm 32:3-5

If there’s one thing I like about the word lust, I like that the fact that in the bible the same greek word is also used to describe our desires for God.

Stupid lust… The x-trap is too much for a lot of people, man, and it sucks. I’m not immune, and neither are a lot of other people. Your openness on your blog is killer, Brian. Convicting and uplifting all at once. Peace and love, bro.
